Feeling Blue....

What does the color Blue mean to you? Seems like a simple question, right? Do colors even have a meaning? There are some universal meanings for colors but how we interpret that color and what we feel can be personal and have varying meanings depending on what it signifies and the mood you’re in.
In my online course, I discuss in depth about color, and the emotions or meanings associated to each one. But for today’s Blog, I’m focusing on Blue.
When you read the title and the initial question, what popped into your mind when I said Blue?
Let me share personally what I associate with the color Blue…. Blue says water and the ocean, sunny days at the beach, fun with friends and also cold winters. It’s my safe color.
And what about the emotions or feelings I think about when I look or think of the color Blue? Blue represents serenity, calmness, security and focus. Maybe that’s why I’m pulled to at least one blue when forming a color palette.
Here is my ask of you this month. Sit down. Clear your thoughts. And then pick a color (doesn’t have to be Blue!). What pops into your mind with that color? How does it make you feel? Are there any memories or emotions associated to that color and do you have any stories that spring to mind? That’s the power of color, and the feelings, thoughts and emotions assigned to each one, whether it’s universally or personal. Color means something.
