How to Title your Artwork
A creative guide to naming your art in a way that sticks, sells, and tells a story.
Learn how to create titles that add meaning, magnetism, and memorability to every piece.
For artists who want to connect deeper and stand out more. Because your art deserves a title that’s as powerful as the painting.
The art of titling
The title, it matters more than you think.
Let’s be honest…
You didn’t spend hours painting something beautiful…
just to slap on a name like “Blue Abstract”
But when it’s time to give your art a title?
Everything sounds too cheesy, too vague, or like it belongs on a candle label.
We’ve all been there. That’s why this guide exists.
This is for you if you…
-
Have said, “I’ll name it later”, and totally meant it… until “later” never came
-
Have stared at the title box longer than they spent painting the actual piece
-
Want your titles to feel like an extension of your work
-
Care about how your art is experienced, not just how it looks
-
Are selling your work and want to connect more meaningfully with collectors
If one of this is you, this guide won’t just help you name your artwork, it’ll make you love the process too!
Good news is… titling is a skill anyone can learn!
And when you get it right?
It can make your artwork unforgettable.
Hey, but…
What’s really inside?
You will thank yourself later!
This guide is not a list of generic title ideas or boring rules.
It’s an honest, playful, and actually helpful digital guide you’ll want to keep near you.
What You’ll Actually Get Out of This:
-
Learn how to name your artwork so it is a true extension of your art.
-
Avoid the 3 biggest mistakes that make even beautiful work feel generic
-
Recognize why some titles click and others fall flat
-
Real examples from my own paintings, including the names I almost picked (and then very much didn’t)
-
Develop your own titling style that feels authentic, not cookie-cutter or AI-generated
-
Easily title a full series or collection so everything feels cohesive, polished, and gallery-ready
-
Refresh older pieces with titles that finally fit, giving forgotten art new life
- Bonus: Prompts & excersices you’ll actually want to use (and maybe steal for your sketchbook too)
It’s all about helping you say what your painting was already trying to say just with words this time.
“Wow! This guide really helped me understand the PURPOSE behind naming my artwork. Before I would get so stuck and would often name things as they are seen. I now have a lot more tools to help me come up with the perfect name, not for me, but for my art. Thanks!!”

This guide is everything
I wish I had when I started.
Why I made this?
Because I used to hate titling. I’d finish a painting that felt like me, and then ruin it with a title that sounded like a sad menu item. Or worse: I’d upload it without one. Untitled. Blank. Like leaving the last sentence of a poem unfinished.
Now? Titling has become one of my favorite parts of the creative process.
It’s not about being clever.
It’s about being true.
This guide is everything I wish I had when I started. And I made it so you can move straight into that yes, this fits feeling.
A painting speaks through color, shape, movement…
But sometimes it just needs a few words to finish the sentence.
Let’s find those words together.
Your art deserves a name that lives up to it.
